Updated 3/21/2020
The health and safety of the citizens of Baker County is the top priority of the Board of County Commissioners. The Board of County Commissioners and its staff are working diligently to meet the needs of our citizens in light of the disruption and uncertainty over COVID-19.

Board of County Commissioners staff remain in close and near-constant communication with the Baker County Sheriff's Office, the Baker County Emergency Management Director, the Baker County Health Department and other local, state and federal agencies tasked with monitoring and responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Based upon the most current information, advice and direction we have received, the following directions are implemented effective immediately through April 15, 2020 at which time they will be re-evaluated for further consideration if neccessary:
  1. All non-essential meetings, activities, events and programs which are sponsored or conducted by Board of County Commissioners departments are postponed. This includes but is not necessarily limited to Land Planning Agency, Animal Advisory Committee, Recreation Advisory Board, Tourist Development Council and 4-H programs.
  2. Baker County Animal Control has suspended the Community Food Bank and public intakes. Adoption viewing and claiming pets are by appointment only. Contact 259-6786 for more details.
  3. Additionally, the following public facilities have been closed:
    • Emily Taber Public Library
    • All County Parks including Knabb Sports Complex, Minger Field, St. Mary's Shoals, and Veterans Memorial Park
    • Baker County Riding Arena
    • Baker County Extension Office and Ag Center Auditorium
    • Sanderson Community Center

We recognize that communication is the key to ensuring stability and public awareness. As such, we will maintain every effort to keep the public informed and up to date on developments as they occur. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause but ask for patience during this time.
