In 1998 The Baker County Sheriff's Office seized the above motor home during a drug investigation. The cost of the motor home and all later improvements and conversions were paid for through seized drug funds at no cost to tax payers. The result was a fully outfitted mobile command center that is used regularly for police field exercises and disaster/emergency situations. The mobile command center provides full radio and computer dispatch services as well as cellular, fax, and land phone capabilities. It is outfitted with its own power generators, lights, and surrounding county communication coordination capabilities. On board are spaces for emergency meetings and planning with appropriate desk space. It has been used for large public events coordination, major crime scenes, floods, forest fire emergencies, and numerous other emergency situations. The Sheriff's Office also utilizes a military surplus Hum-Vee that was secured from the military at very little cost. It is utilized during flood emergencies on impassible roads and for marijuana eradication missions in the woods and forests. The Sheriff's Office also has a number of other four-wheel drive vehicles and ATVs for off-road use when the need arises. These vehicles can pull various trailers loaded with necessary police equipment and emergency supplies.
